There\u2019s nothing they need to practice ahead of time and no previous ballet experience required. Our curriculum is designed so that new students can join throughout the year and leap right in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet Their Tutu Teacher Before Class<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

What Should a Child Wear to Their First Ballet Class?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Good news: you do not need to buy an entire ballet wardrobe before trying a class.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a free trial class at Tutu School Cary, comfortable clothing that allows your child to move easily is perfectly fine. Ballet slippers are welcome, but bare feet work too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For dancers who continue with us, dress guidelines<\/a> vary slightly by class division:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baby Ballet & Tutu Toddlers:<\/strong> Dancers may wear any clothing they can comfortably move in, along with ballet slippers, bare feet, or rubber-soled socks. Participating grown-ups should also dress comfortably and wear bare feet or rubber-soled socks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Happens During a Ballet Class for Young Children?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At Tutu School Cary, little dancers are learning real ballet technique\u2014but in a way intentionally designed for childhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take a break if needed.<\/strong> New experiences sometimes bring big feelings. It\u2019s completely okay to step outside together for a moment and return when your dancer feels ready\u2014or to watch from the side for a while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make a bathroom stop before class.<\/strong> We recommend a quick bathroom visit before class begins, while also understanding that many of our little dancers are navigating potty training. Caregivers can always help with a bathroom break when needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep ballet slippers secure.<\/strong> If your child\u2019s slippers have drawstrings, make sure they\u2019re tied, trimmed, and tucked in to prevent tripping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stay nearby.<\/strong> Even when your dancer is participating independently, please remain close to the studio in case they need you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Above all, give the experience time. Confidence in a new environment is something children build, not something they need to bring through the door with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
