Favorite Ballet Storytime Story
My favorite ballet story is Sleeping Beauty! I love it because Princess Aurora is so graceful and strong, just like a ballerina. The story is full of beautiful dancing and magical moments. This ballet teaches us how to be poised, patient, and confident in our dancing. Just like Aurora, we practice balancing, moving gracefully, and telling a story with our dancing. Plus, who doesn’t love a happy ending where kindness and love win?
Favorite Ballet Step
Yes! My go-to step is a chassé with a jeté, ending in an arabesque. I love teaching this combination because it helps dancers feel the excitement of traveling with grace. It’s such a fun step because you get to glide smoothly in the chassé, then soar through the air in the jeté, and finish with a strong, elegant arabesque. This step teaches dancers how to use their momentum, coordination, and balance all at once—making them feel like they’re performing on a big stage!
Do you have a go-to animal for inspiration during Animal Dances?
Yes! My go-to animal for inspiration is a giraffe. Giraffes have such long, elegant necks and move gracefully, just like dancers on élevé. I love how they stretch tall, walk lightly on their toes, and keep their heads lifted high, which is exactly what we practice in ballet! When we dance like giraffes, we learn to elongate our bodies, improve our posture, and move with confidence and grace—just like real ballerinas!
Favorite Thing About Teaching at Tutu School
Tutu School is special to me because it gives me the opportunity to pour into young dancers, teaching them the basics of ballet while making it fun, exciting, and magical. I love watching their eyes light up as they discover the joy of movement and storytelling through dance. Seeing them twirl, leap, and express themselves with confidence is truly rewarding. More than anything, I cherish the chance to build their confidence. Ballet teaches discipline, grace, and perseverance, but most importantly, it instills a sense of self-belief. When children learn to trust themselves at a young age, they carry that strength into everything they do—both in dance and in life! Helping shape their journey, even in a small way, is what makes Tutu School so special to me.
