784 Media Group Interview: What Makes Us Different

Last year, the 784 Media Group reached out to us for an interview with one of our co-owners, Jessica Mann, to talk about our studio here in Haslet and what truly sets us apart.

Jessica came across Tutu School as she was starting her family and taking a break from her career as a performer. She started as a Tutu School teacher in Burlingame, CA. When she moved to Texas, she knew that there was nothing like our program in the area and that the community in Haslet would be perfect for a Tutu School!

Tutu School is a ballet studio that specifically caters to ages 6 months to 8 years old, and is known for creating a safe and creative environment for children to experience the magic of dance.

Here are some things that Jessica points out in her interview that set us apart from other dance studios:

We Purposely Involve Family

Our baby and toddler classes, of course, involve caregiver participation, but we like our families to be involved in even our older classes. While some studios like to have students’ families wait in separate rooms while class takes place, we prefer for families to come and watch from the other side of our pony wall. This helps our students feel at ease being able to see their caregiver for the whole class. It also helps families cheer on their children and see in real time what their child is learning.

Use of Imagination and Props

Tutu School purposely uses props and imaginative stories in each part of class. This not only keeps things fresh and fun, but it also solidifies the concepts students learn by engaging their imaginations. We pretend to be fairies flying on our toes with magic wands, galloping unicorns with ribbons, marching soldiers with rhythm sticks, and so much more!

Ballet Storytime

Our curriculum involves classical ballet stories like The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and Coppelia to expose children to classical music and performance. The best part is that the students get to bring these stories to life by performing them for themselves as a part of every class.

We Believe Everyone Can Dance!

Tutu School is a place where everyone is welcome to come find the magic of dance! Boys, girls, and children of all different abilities are welcome in our programs. With our invested teachers and special sensory awareness, we are dedicated to helping everyone learn to love ballet.

Non-Competive Environment

We truly try to focus on learning and falling in love with the art of dance without the pressures of competition or expectation of perfection. Our teachers are specially trained to gently correct and give age appropriate expectations while teaching real ballet techniques. This creates a safe environment for children to build confidence and have a foundation for future dance studies.
