Dance Class Ready: Tips for Parents of Little Dancers

The Best Way to Prepare Your Child for Dance Class
We all want our students to thrive and have the best possible experience during the short but special time we spend together each week. Sometimes, it’s the little things—like a hair tie, a snack, or a water bottle—that make the biggest difference in your child having a joyful and successful class at Tutu School.
Here are a few simple ways you can help set your dancer up for success before ballet class:
1. Arrive a few minutes early
We know this isn’t always easy, but giving your child a moment to transition from the car ride to the classroom can make a big difference. Those extra minutes help them settle in, feel comfortable, and be ready to participate.
2. Offer a light snack beforehand
Just like adults, our littlest dancers can get hangry! A small snack before class helps give them the energy they need to move, focus, and have fun.
3. Bring a water bottle
All that magical movement can be tiring! Having a water bottle nearby helps keep dancers hydrated and ready to keep twirling.
4. Make sure ballet shoes are tied
Properly tied ballet shoes help your child move safely and confidently throughout class.
5. Tie hair out of the face
Keeping hair pulled back allows students to see clearly and helps prevent distractions or overstimulation during class.
A little preparation goes a long way in helping your child feel happy, confident, and ready to dance. We can’t wait to see your ballerina in class!
