Love, Friendship, and Tiny Twirlers: A February Recap

It has been a heart-filling few weeks at Tutu School Raleigh! As we look back on February, the sense of community in our ballet classes was beautiful to see. Between the Valentine’s decor, the giggles in the studio, and the hundreds of toes twinkling across the floor, the warmth of the season was felt by all.

At Tutu School Raleigh, the guiding belief is that ballet is for everybody. This month we brought this to life by celebrating love and friendship through ballet. Seeing connection shared between children—both the human and the “lovey” kind—is exactly why these storybook adventures are so vital for young dancers.

A Studio Transformed by Love

Throughout Valentine’s week, the studio was sweetly decorated to create a festive atmosphere that sparked the imagination of every dancer who walked through the door. Dancers arrived to a world of glitter and hearts, often donning their favorite pink, purple, and love-inspired attire to match the joyful spirit of the week.

Themed Classes for Valentine’s Week

Our teachers curated special activities that emphasized connection and friendship. These themed lessons brought the core values of ballet to life through play:

  • A Special Storytime: Each class featured a reading of Love is a Tutu, as a fun seasonal twist.
  • Themed Class Activities: Dancers explored movement through curated themed activities celebrating friendship and using festive props like heart-shaped solo mats.
  • Invited Stuffy Friends: Little twirlers were encouraged to bring their favorite “lovies” from home to participate in the dancing. These special guests joined in for “Partner Gallops” and “Stuffie Pas de Deux,” helping even the youngest dancers feel confident and supported on the dance floor.
  • Valentine Exchanges: The spirit of giving was in the air as many kiddos brought valentines to hand out to their classmates, fostering a warm environment of friendship.
  • Artistic Keepsakes: To wrap up the magic, dancers enjoyed a special seasonal coloring sheet and custom Tutu School valentines to take home.

A Record-Breaking Celebration of Friendship

We continued celebrating “love and friendship” with the Bring a Friend weeks for the remainder of February. Tutu School was thrilled to welcome dozens of new friends who were invited to twirl into the studios to dance alongside members! This initiative allowed students to share the joy of ballet class with neighbors, cousins, and schoolmates.

Watching students proudly share with their friends their favorite ballet steps or even how to “popcorn” stuffies on the parachute was very special. We believe strongly in the Social Benefits of Ballet Class and how Friendships Blossom at at Tutu School which you can read more about here.
