Teacher Spotlight: Miss Kirsten ~ Calm Confidence, Creativity, and Connection

At Tutu School Renton, dance is about more than learning steps. It is about building confidence, nurturing creativity, and helping children feel safe, seen, and celebrated. Our teachers are at the heart of that experience, and we are so excited to shine a spotlight on one of our newest educators, Teacher Kirsten.

From the moment she steps into the studio, Kirsten brings a calming, steady presence that puts dancers, families, and fellow teachers at ease. There is an immediate sense of trust in her classroom. You feel relaxed in her presence because you know she is prepared, thoughtful, and capable of handling anything that comes her way. Her creativity with the curriculum and her genuine connection with each dancer make her classes feel both intentional and magical.

One of the things Kirsten loves most about teaching at Tutu School is watching her dancers grow.

I love to see the dancers grow in their confidence and skill. It’s always the best when I’m able to see their progression and joy as they dance!

Her classes are warm, welcoming, and inclusive. Through movement, music, and imaginative play, Kirsten creates an environment where every child feels encouraged to participate and explore at their own pace. Whether a dancer arrives full of energy or a bit more reserved, she meets them where they are and helps them feel successful.

Kirsten is also a wonderful teammate and a trusted presence for families. She brings warmth, reliability, and a collaborative spirit to our studio community, and it shows in every interaction.

I bring a lot of warmth and fun to my classes. I try to make sure everyone feels very welcomed and included in every experience they have at the studio.

Teaching at Tutu School has been meaningful for Kirsten beyond the classroom. Working with young dancers has helped her slow down and notice the small moments of wonder and delight that fill each day.

Teaching at Tutu School has opened my eyes to the little moments of wonder and delight that can be found all throughout the day. My students bring a lot of energy and joy, and that has carried over into my day to day life.

Outside of the studio, Kirsten enjoys curling up with a good book or heading out on a hike when the weather is nice. She is also an incredible mom, and that nurturing, grounded care shines through in the way she supports her dancers and builds strong relationships with families.

When asked what advice she would share with new teachers, Kirsten offered thoughtful and encouraging insight:

Observing other teachers in their classes helped me a lot. And if something just isn’t working in a class, just keep going, move on, and learn from what didn’t work well.

That openness to learning, combined with her calm confidence and creativity, makes Kirsten such a valued part of our Tutu School Renton team. Our teachers are supported, trusted, and celebrated here, and Kirsten is a beautiful example of what it looks like to grow alongside a caring studio community.

We are so lucky to have Teacher Kirsten at Tutu School Renton. Her presence helps create classes where dancers feel confident, cared for, and excited to return each week.

Families curious about classes with Teacher Kirsten are always welcome to explore a free trial and experience the joy of Tutu School Renton.

For those who love creative movement and working with children, teaching at Tutu School Renton is a meaningful way to be part of a supportive and caring community.
