Teacher Spotlight: Miss Abby ~ Confidence, Joy, and Building Bravery

At Tutu School Renton, our classrooms are filled with small but meaningful moments—dancers trying something new, sharing a smile with a friend, or lighting up with excitement as they learn a new step. At the heart of these moments are the teachers who bring them to life, shaping an environment where dancers feel supported, encouraged, and inspired.

This month, we’re shining a spotlight on Teacher Abby and the thoughtful, joyful presence she brings to our studio. In her classes, those meaningful moments are met with patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine sense of care that helps each dancer feel confident enough to try, grow, and shine.

Abby describes her teaching style as “technical but also fun, inviting, and caring,” a balance that allows dancers to build strong foundations while still experiencing the magic of movement. In her classes, dancers are not only learning ballet—they are building confidence. You can see it in the way a dancer stands a little taller, takes a brave step forward, or proudly shows what they’ve learned.

As Abby shares, “I see my students become more confident and open up as they come back week after week… they are more comfortable being creative and participating in class.”

That growth is something Abby is deeply committed to fostering. Whether a dancer is mastering a new step or simply finding the courage to try, her goal is for each child to leave class feeling “inspired and proud of their achievements.”

Her love for teaching is rooted in the environment that surrounds her. “Tutu School is such a magical and welcoming place,” she shares, and she brings that same sense of warmth into every class she leads. Beyond the classroom, Abby is a thoughtful and engaged member of our team, connecting with families and collaborating with fellow teachers to continue growing as an educator.

She is also continually inspired by the dancers themselves. “They are so quick to pick up new steps… many of my students even ask for extra challenges.” With the right support and encouragement, she sees firsthand just how much children are capable of achieving.

Watching Abby’s classes, you can see something we value deeply at Tutu School that early dance experiences can shape far more than movement. They help children build confidence, creativity, and a strong sense of self.

We feel so lucky to have Abby as part of our team and to see the confidence and joy she helps bring out in our dancers each week.

Abby currently teaches at Tutu School Renton on Friday afternoons and Sundays, and we are so grateful for the care and intention she brings to those classes.
