- Favorite Ballet Storytime
Coppelia! I love the humor in this story and have so much fun teaching dancers to perform as Coppelia (a doll) in Dr. Coppelius’ workshop.
- Favorite Ballet Step
Pas de Chat is one of my favorite steps to teach our Primary Ballet Prep dancers. It can be challenging at first, but once dancers understand the concepts, they have so much fun performing it! One of my favorite times to use pas de chat is when we read Sleeping Beauty during ballet storytime. In the wedding scene, dancers pretend to be Puss in Boots. It’s the perfect time for them to show off their pas de chats.
- Do you have a go-to animal for inspiration during Animal Dances?
Lions. As we explore different movements throughout class, it is a joy to watch dancers find freedom and creativity in dancing like strong, loud, brave lions!
- Favorite Thing About Teaching at Tutu School
The magical community! Tutu School feels like so much more than just a ballet studio! I love watching our little dancers form friendships with one another as they explore the world of music, movement, and ballet together. And the community is just as much for the caregivers bringing their little ones to class. What started as just an extracurricular activity for our dancers often transforms into friendships for our families that I’ve seen last for years! I love having the opportunity to help create a positive space that encourages dancers to explore the world of ballet and fosters a very special community for the entire family to enjoy.
