- What is your favorite Ballet Story from our curriculum?
- Definitely The Nutcracker! It has always been one of my favorite ballets. I love the music, the magic, and how imaginative the whole story feels, it’s always my go-to!
- Do you have a go-to step that you love to teach or perform?
- Arabesque! I love how beautiful and expressive it can be, and it’s so fun watching dancers feel proud when they find their balance and create that classic ballet shape.
- Do you have a go-to animal for inspiration during Animal Dances?
- I love using an octopus! It gives us an excuse to make really big, wiggly arms and legs and take up lots of space while we dance. Plus, we usually get to bring out our favorite bubbles afterward and pretend we’re dancing underwater!
- What makes Tutu School special to you?
- What makes Tutu School so special to me is getting to watch dancers have fun while they’re learning ballet and discovering the joy of moving their bodies to music. Instead of ballet feeling overly strict or rigid, we get to introduce technique through imagination, storytelling, and play. I love that we’re able to embrace the magical side of dance and create an environment where dancers can truly fall in love with ballet.
